Award-winning writer and producer Mark Hefti returns to the documentary world with Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic. This is his 2nd documentary partnering with Frederic Lumiere since they made Six String Man a film about homeless street musicians in San Francisco. Prior to that, Mark was a featured subject in Lumiere’s first feature Documentary Amazing Journey.
Mark began his film writing career when he co-write the award-winning feature films Fandom (dist. Cinequest Films) as well as the tragically funny and festival favorite An American Vampire In America (Directed by Nick Tucker), which is also being made into a web-series premiering the Fall of 2014.
After Executive Producing and penning the award winning short film Play Ball, Mark went on to write and produce the feature film Tomorrow Is Today (starring Scout Taylor-Compton, also directed by Frederic Lumiere). The film won over a dozen awards domestically and internationally, playing throughout the US, Latin America, Canada, Asia and Europe.
Mark also wrote The Testament for Shoreline Motion Pictures (in pre-production), as well as Internet content for the shows Royaletta, The Party Animals and Mediocre Films with some of his original content reaching 25+million views online. Mark also produced and co-wrote the upcoming Australian sci-fi feature Ektopos (directed by Ben Shackleford).
Currently Mark is producing a film he wrote called “Broken Doll” which will star Oscar winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. He is also in development on a giving-back style reality show that he created which will be hosted by Cindy Crawford.
Mark has received the Park Avenue Award at the New York Screenplay contest as well as top awards at the Slamdance Film Festival script competition as well as the NexTV Writing competition and Hollywood Screenplay contest. Mark lives in Los Angeles, where he serves as the President of Green Ray Entertainment.
*On a local note, Mark was a cast member for 3 years in San Francisco’s famous show, Beach Blanket Babylon, which just celebrated it’s 40th anniversary this past weekend.
