About the Film

ALL HPV CANCERS ARE PREVENTABLE!

"HPV is thought to be responsible for more than 90% of anal and cervical cancers, about 70% of vaginal and vulvar cancers, and more than 60% of penile cancers. Cancers of the head and neck are mostly caused by tobacco and alcohol, but recent studies show that about 70% of cancers of the oropharynx may be linked to HPV."  – SOURCE: Center For Disease Control and Prevention

“Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic” is a feature length in-depth documentary on the HUMAN PAPILLOMA VIRUS (HPV) and the stories of struggle, tragedy and triumph surrounding this complicated and often misunderstood infection.

Women are living with (and dying from) HPV related cancers every single day. These women are real. Real Mothers, Real Daughters, Real Wives, Girlfriends, Friends and Sisters. Anybody who has been sexual with even one partner is at a high risk for catching HPV. This documentary lifts the veil and reveals some of the faces of HPV and sheds light on the risks, myths, problems, politics, misconceptions and hard truths about this widespread epidemic.

  • Eighty Percent of all people under 50 years of age will have HPV at some point in their lives.

  • One in two current college students have HPV.

  • HPV is spread by skin-to-skin contact. Condoms do not fully prevent the spread of HPV.

  • HPV can lay dormant in a person’s system for years, only to show up later in the form of pre-cancerous or cancerous cells.

  • Men cannot be tested for HPV, but do unknowingly carry and spread the virus.

“Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic” will educate, shock, reveal, entertain

and maybe even save lives…
